The day we stopped buying games and started making them
Sinki Games is an indie Australian games company, founded by two friends who made a chaotic little card game called Yap.
Hi, we’re Chris and Matt: those two friends.
It started with a Christmas tradition. Every year, Chris picks a game for our unhinged friend group. Some years it’s a hit. Some years we don’t talk about.
His 2025 pick got eye rolls. Then the sun went down, hours disappeared and nobody touched their phone once.
That’s when Matt had a wild idea: next Christmas, we’d bring our own game to the party.
We kept our promise. Yap is here, and this Christmas there’s a seat at our table for you.
It’s built on one simple observation: we all lean on ‘um’, ‘ahh’, ‘like’ and ‘so’ far more than we realise. Take them away, add a 30-second clock and a room full of people waiting for you to slip up, and the wheels come off fast.
It’s a fight for survival and the room is not on your side.
With five ways to play, there’s a mode for the show-offs, the bluffers, the puppet masters, the fact-checkers and the ones who just want to watch it all burn.
Everyone gets their moment in the spotlight and you’ll be crying laughing at people you thought you knew.
Chaos is the fun part. The point is getting people talking again. The doomscrolling can wait. Your favourite people can’t.
